Berlin-based artist Katharina Ernst started playing the drums at age nine, with an early focus on polymetric, odd and chaotic structures. She studied abstract painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and simultaneously started touring worldwide with projects in the music and performance context. She spent eight years living mainly in France before she finally moved to Germany.

Katharina has already put out a number of records with different projects. The list of her collaborations is long and diverse, lately including composing for New Music ensembles (Black Page Orchestra, 2020), dance companies (Kate McIntosh, 2020/21) and theatre (Deutsches Theater, 2021).
In her own work, she puts emphasis on transgressing the fields of music, fine arts and choreography, celebrating a hybrid notion of the term „composition“.
